Binary SMS

A binary SMS message has maximum 140 bytes of user data. The binary SMS can be divided into two partitions: the User Data Header (UDH) and the actual User Data (UD). The User Data Header informs the mobile device about the type of the message. It is part of the User Data. To be capable of sending all types of binary SMS messages you have to encode the several message types into WBXML format. • <dcs>DCS in hexadecimal format (1 byte)</dcs>
  • <udh>UDH in hexadecimal format</udh>
  • <ud>UD in hexadecimal format</ud>
